1. Safe for Work (SFW) Policy

atl.wiki is a Safe for Work (SFW) environment. NSFW (Not Safe for Work) content and discussions are strictly prohibited. While NSFW typically refers to sexually explicit material, the definition may evolve to include other forms of sensitive content. This applies to all content on the wiki, including but not limited to text, images & media.

Prohibited Content:

  • Sexually explicit material in any form.
  • Violence, gore, or depictions of animal abuse.
  • Glorification of self-harm or suicide.

2. Mutual Respect

atl.wiki is a respectful and inclusive community.

Expected Behaviour:

  • Treat others with humility and respect.
  • Keep interactions constructive and considerate.
  • No harassment: Bullying, doxxing, or coordinated attacks are strictly prohibited.
  • No hate speech: Discriminatory remarks on any personal characteristics will not be tolerated.
  • No threats: Direct or indirect threats against individuals or groups will result in immediate action.

3. Responsible Expression & Discussions

The wiki welcomes diverse perspectives and encourages constructive discussions, but it is not a free-for-all debate forum. Please ensure all discussions are kept to talk pages and not done on articles unless it has been designated as a discussion page.

Guidelines for Expression:

  • Stay on topic: Discussions should focus on Linux, open-source software, and related technologies.
  • No disruptive debates: Heated, repetitive, or toxic arguments will be moderated.
  • Avoid professional advice: The wiki does not provide medical, legal, financial, or religious advice.

4. Avoidance of Elitism

Linux and technology is for everyone, from beginners to experts.

Expected Behaviour:

  • Respect different choices: Users may prefer different distros, desktop environments, package managers, or workflows.
  • No gatekeeping: Beginners should feel welcome, not discouraged. We want to foster a growing Linux and FOSS community.

5. Respecting Moderators & Rules

Moderators help maintain order. If a moderator asks you to modify behaviour, please cooperate.

  • Disagreements should be handled via the wiki staff, not public disputes.
  • Do not backseat moderate: If someone breaks a rule, report it instead of escalating the situation.

6. Language Requirement: English Only

  • The wiki uses English as the primary language.

7. Content Guidelines

All contributions must align with the wiki’s goal of providing high-quality Linux documentation.

Prohibited Content:

  • Low-effort, spam, or non-constructive edits.
  • Off-topic material unrelated to Linux, open-source software or general technology.
  • Unverified or misleading technical information.
  • Spam or self-promoting content not relevant to the article.
  • AI Generated images are prohibited unless it is relevant to an article and clearly disclosed as being AI generated.
  • Use of generative AI to write content which will be published on the wiki is prohibited. However, AI powered tools such as grammar checkers or use of AI for checking the accuracy of the English used is permitted.

8. Privacy & Security

  • Do not dox or share personal information of other users.
  • Be cautious about sharing your own information.

9. Enforcement & Punishments

Moderators reserve the right to take appropriate action depending on the severity of violations. If you believe a member of the team has abused their powers, it should be reported to the administrators through a method listed here.

Possible Actions:

  • Warnings: Used for minor infractions.
  • Blocks: Temporary restrictions from editing or participating.
  • IP Blocks: Restricting editing access entirely.

10. Punishment Evasion & Appeals

  • Using alt accounts, VPN's or proxies to evade punishments will result in further punishment for yourself.
  • If you believe a punishment was unfair, you may appeal by contacting an administrator through a method listed here.

11. Final Note: Exercise Common Sense

Not every situation can be predicted. Use good judgment, respect others, and contribute positively to the Linux community. If in doubt, ask for clarification rather than assuming. Thank you for being part of the atl.wiki!

The Code of Conduct (CoC) for the wiki is adapted from the All Things Linux CoC.
