dpkg (Debian Package) is the core software of the package management system in the Debian operating system and its derivatives. It is used to install, remove, and provide information about .deb packages. dpkg is a low-level tool. APT (Advanced Package Tool) is more commonly used in practice as it is a high-level tool.[1]
